General Information
Auto-fill is a feature that allows Password Keeper to imitate a keystroke sequence that is used to fill out a form or to enter a login and a password. Let’s take this sequence when you fill out a regular form:
- Open the dialog box with input fields or the web form in the browser.
- Select the first input field.
- Fill the first input field.
- Move on to the second field using the TAB key as a rule.
- Fill the second input field.
- Fill data into the rest of fields until the entire form is filled out.
- Finish filling out the form by pressing the ENTER key.
Password Keeper allows you to avoid going through this sequence of actions by imitating keystrokes and thus filling out the form automatically. All you have to do is switch to the first position in the form, press the hotkey (by default, Ctrl+Alt+F) and select the necessary passcard data from which will be pasted into the form.
Configuration
To make it possible to use a passcard in the auto-fill feature, you should open its properties by selecting the Edit item either from the passcard context menu or on the toolbar and select the Use auto-fill checkbox. After that you will be able to edit the sequence of keystrokes that will be performed by Password Keeper. Password Keeper can insert data from passcard fields in the auto-fill string. Buttons to the right from the string input field are used to conveniently insert passcard data or special keys, such as TAB, ENTER, F1, etc.
To change the auto-fill hotkey, you should open the Settings dialog box and select a new hotkey in the Auto-fill hotkey field. You can also use the Settings dialog box to specify how fast keys will be pressed when the program fills out forms in the Auto-type timeout field.
Usage
Open the form that you need to filled out, switch to the first field in the form and press the auto-fill hotkey (by default, Ctrl+Alt+F). Select the necessary passcard and click the OK button in the new dialog box. Note that the passcard selection dialog box contains only those passcards that have been configured for auto-fill.
Notes
If you use more than one keyboard layout installed on your computer, you should use the same layout that you used during the configuration of the passcard or filling its fields.
The auto-type timeout can be too large or too small for your computer. It depends on its performance. You can always adjust it in the Settings dialog box.
